Designed in the 1970s as a flood control area, Eagle Draw has now become a beautiful park area stretching through town. A 3.1-mile track wraps around the park and is host to daily joggers, runners, and the occasional 5K fun run. Artesia General Hospital donated permanent workout equipment at various stations along the trail complete with instructions on how to get the most out of them. You will find a newly implemented bike lane, new lighting around the park for added security, as well as benches, playground equipment, gorgeous shade trees, and even a story walk. The story walk changes about once a month and is sponsored by Artesia Public Library. It spans one whole block on the north side of the trail, where kids can stop at each of the 20 stations to read a fun book.
