RED DIRT BLACK GOLD FESTIVAL
Join us in Downtown Artesia on August 24, 2019!
Red Dirt Black Gold Festival is a celebration of Artesia’s heritage and livelihood in the oil and gas industry. Festivities include an Oilfield Cook-off, Oilfield Olympics competition, New Mexico Brewfest, and Kid Zones. Capping off the event is a FREE concert featuring amazing Red Dirt music (To Be Announced April 1, 2019)!
The Oilfield Olympics kicks off the day in the morning at Eagle Draw park at 9:00 am. Everyone is encouraged to participate in teams of 4, but the event is free to spectators young and old! The teams compete in a timed event that include stations built and donated by local companies with the oilfield theme. The team with the fastest time is deemed the winner!!
Once the Olympics are over, head over to Mainstreet side walk sales beginning at 10:00 am. Sign up for the Corn Hole tournament that begins at 2:00 pm in Heritage Plaza.
Then in Heritage Walkway, the Kid Zone will be set up and will begin at 5:00 pm where the kiddos can enjoy various water games to keep cool under the umbrella of shade trees.
Join local oilfield companies as they battle head-to-head in a cook-off beginning at 5:00 pm. You’ll find everything from Carne Asada to Ribs and Jalepeno Poppers! Tickets can be purchased by the public to be able to taste the entries with one chance to vote for your favorite.
New Mexico Brewfest opens up in the late afternoon at 5:00 pm and runs until the late hours of the night. Bring your lawn chairs or grab a spot on the grass to enjoy some great country music. Don’t forget to wear your boots!

4:30 pm – JD and The Badlands Band
5:30 pm – Lincoln Road
6:30 pm – The Yarbrough Band
8:00 pm – Cory Morrow
10:00 pm – Casey Donahew
Don’t forget to grab yourself a T-shirt to commemorate the event for years to come at the Merchandise tent which opens at 5:00 pm.
