4th of July Celebration!!

Here is the line-up of activities for the Fourth of July. Sign up for you favorite activities today!  There is plenty to do, so join us for a weekend of fun in the sun and celebration, ending with a beautiful tribute to our country's freedom by the Sons of Thunder Pyro Team!  Call Artesia Chamber of Commerce, 746.2744, for more information, or visit www.artesiachamber.com for registration forms and information.

2-Mile Fun Walk & 5K Fun Run
Get the morning started right with a nice walk or run. Join walkers in the 2-Mile Fun Walk or run along in the 5K Fun Run starting at 6:45 AM at Roberts Park.  Entry is $15 each. For more information, call Luis at 746.9009.

Trailblazers' Firecracker Golf Scramble
If the early morning run is not for you, joinArtesia Trailblazers at the annual golf scramble at Artesia Country Club.  Flights begin at 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Registration fee is $30 (carts and green fees are extra).  Call Joe at the Pro Shop to sign up, 746.6732.

CO-ED Volleyball Tournament
At a new location! This year's Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament begins at 1:00 PM at the new MLK Park!  Team entry fee is $60. Call Staci, 746-7097, for more information.

Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament
Try your hand at tennis in the Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament starting at 8:00 AM at the Mack Chase Sports Complex. Team entry fee is $20. Call Sheri, 760.415.9213, for more information.

Fourth of July Parade
Let Freedom Ring is the theme for this year’s  Fourth of July Parade.   The parade rolls in the celebration of Independence Saturday morning at 9:00 AM moving from Bulldog Blvd up Main Street to Second St.  If you or your company would like to participate in this year’s parade by having a float, please pick up a form at the Chamber of Commerce,  107 N. First . Forms  must be returned by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24.  There is NO FEE to enter. For more information please call Glenda or Desirae at 365.4255 or 365.8636.

Unveiling The Rustler
Join Artesia MainStreet as  they celebrate the unveiling of the third and final sculpture in the Cattle Drive series -- The Rustler.  Enjoy a dedication ceremony, see the unveiling and meet the artist, Robert Summers in the roundabout at Second and Texas.  The ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM immediately following the parade.

Fireman’s Olympics
Don’t miss out on the 11th Annual North Eddy County  Fourth  of July Fireman’s Olympics. Cheer on your fire departments' bravest as they compete in several timed events such as Water Polo, 3 Man Hose Lay, Bucket Brigade, and the Mystery Event! And back by popular demand is the Fireman’s B.B.Q. food is FREE. The Olympics will be at a new location this year at Central Park beginning at 10:oo AM. Hotel Artesia 
You haven't been to Hotel Artesia yet?  Stop by on July 4th!  Hotel Artesia will host an open house immediately following the unveiling of The Rustler so the public can tour the hotel, see the rooms and inner workings of the hotel.  We are pleased to welcome our newest hotel to Artesia! 

SONS OF THUNDER FIREWORKS DISPLAY
It's time for another fabulous fireworks extravaganza! Mike Deans and the Sons of Thunder are preparing an all-patriotic fireworks show to celebration Independence Day. The show will begin at 9:15 PM at Jaycee Park.  Be sure to get close as the low show is as great as the show way up in the sky!  Tune in to KSVP to hear the music by which the fireworks are choreographed and watch the dance.  Jaycee Park will be closed to vehicular traffic, but the parking lot on the south side will be open for parking.  Parking lot will be exit only as soon as the show begins.  Regulation barbecue grills are allowed but may be shut down by APD or AFD. 

After The Fourth 3-V-3 Soccer Tournament -  Kicking It Under The Lights
