Greater Artesia Economic Development Corporation

The GAEDC board is the body of leaders serving as a recommendation board to Artesia City Council for economic development funding assistance to new or expanding businesses and other projects designed for local economic development that fall within the organization’s stated priorities.  The GAEDC board is comprised of City of Artesia mayor and two city councilors, Artesia Chamber of Commerce executive director and two Chamber board members, and three at-large community members.

The fund created to support economic development projects is generated by half of a Local Option Gross Receipts Tax increment dedicated specifically to economic development and dictated by the City’s Economic Development Plan Ordinance (Ord. 646, 2-12-2002). Mission

It is the mission of the Greater Artesia Economic Development Commission to provide the leadership and direction necessary to develop and establish a positive environment for economic and business growth through incentives and assistance for local business expansion and attraction of new and relocating business, all of which are focused on the creation of new jobs and quality of life for Artesia area residents.

Premise

The GAEDC’s mission was developed on the following premise:  “Improving and strengthening Artesia for ourselves will prepare our city for others.”
