“Let’s Meet In The Middle!”
 Artesia and Carlsbad Chambers are teaming up for a better Eddy County so let’s Meet in the Middle on Thursday, July 24 for a combined Wednesday Weekly Exchange and Friday Focus. Same time as usual – 7:30 a.m. – this time at Carlsbad KOA, New Mexico’s number one campground, where owner Scott Bacher will kindly refer to his Artesia and Carlsbad guests as “cavedogs.”  Bring a business card, a friend and an appetite for Carlsbad KOA’s brisket breakfast.  July 23 Weekly Exchange and July 25 Friday Focus will be cancelled especially for the Meet in the Middle occasion.  Network your business and make new friends!

The world-famous Hope Diamond has been stolen from the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Only a well-organized gang of criminals could have broken through the security measures protecting this priceless gem. A very select group of special agents has just been assembled by the Bureau of Intelligence and Research in great secrecy. Its mission: Recover the diamond without alerting the powers that are really responsible for the heist. Your mission is to sign up for this event, be given a character and come to the lock-in as your character to help solve this crime. You will travel the world using maps to discover WHO-DUN-IT!!! THIS ADVENTURE IS SURE TO KEEP YOU GUESSING!!!!

Artesia Quilters Guild 8th Annual Show
Artesia Historical Museum & Art Center, 505 W. Richardson Ave., is hosting the 8th annual Quilters Guild Show July 15 thru August 29.  Museum hours are 9:00 a.m.-noon and 1:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesdays thru Fridays and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Call 748-2390 for more information.

Kiwanis Club
The Artesia Kiwanis Club is selling raffle tickets $2 each or 6 tickets for $10 for a stainless steel BAR B QUE, worth $438.  It is a 32' gas grill, 5 burners, rotisserie unit and side burner. Domenici Public Policy Conference
August 20-22, 2008 Las Cruces, New Mexico
The Pete V. Domenici Legacy is a statewide effort led by New Mexico State University to honor Senator Pete V. Domenici’s contributions to the state of New Mexico and the country during his historic tenure in the U.S. Senate.

The goal is to establish a multifaceted project to honor Senator Domenici’s extensive work.  The opening event for this project is the inaugural Domenici Public Policy Conference where scholars, students from Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico State, New Mexico Tech, Western New Mexico University, and the University of New Mexico, leaders and friends of the Senator come to celebrate his impact on public policy.
